Ian Dickie

Ian works on natural capital accounting and investments, and the economics of environmental policies. eftec has developed national ecosystem accounts aligned to the UN SEE EA standard, and has been a leading contributor to the development of the ISO14054 standard: Natural Capital Accounting for Organisations. Ian was editor for BSI’s nature markets principles standard (Flex701, published March 2025), and has led modelling of the Biodiversity Net Gain market and natural capital investment plans. Ian is a member of Defra’s Biodiversity Expert Committee, the Peatland Code Technical Advisory Board, and from January 2026 the UK Climate Change Adaptation Committee. He was an author of the Natural Capital Protocol, and the UNDP’s 2016 Biodiversity Finance Guide.
