Paul Harris has extensive experience in capital markets, with over 30 years working in trading, corporate sales and structuring across bonds, money markets and derivatives in London and Dublin.
For the past 20 years, he has focused on environmental finance, establishing Bank of Ireland’s carbon trading capability and developing innovative products such as Ireland’s first carbon-linked investment and a UK carbon offset mortgage.
He was a founding contributor to Ireland’s Green IFSC initiative, aimed at advancing financial mechanisms to support a sustainable economy. Paul also developed and led the DCU Postgraduate Certificate in Sustainable Energy Finance.
His advisory roles include serving on the CDP Ireland and Irish Forum on Natural Capital committees, and contributing to the National Biodiversity Plan as a member of the Government’s Biodiversity Forum (2016–2021). In his current role, Paul leads Sustainable Product Innovation at Bank of Ireland, where he has designed award-winning products such as the Woodland Nature Credit and Enviroflex, supporting ecosystem services and sustainable agriculture. He was recently recognised with the IOB Future of Finance award for his positive contributions to sustainability.
