Stewart has a lifetime working in agriculture. Born and raised on a cattle and sheep farm in the midlands, he studied agricultural and environmental science in UCD. He went on to complete a Masters in Humanitarian Action in UCD and spend much of the next 20 years working on sustainable agriculture programming in developing countries. 4 years ago he joined Climate KIC to work on their partnership with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, called the Ireland Land Agri Food Deep Demonstration. This initiative uses systems innovation approaches to close the gap between current reality and Ireland’s climate/sustainability ambitions. The current focus of the partnership is on 1) enabling the circular bioeconomy, 2) supporting the development of the National Carbon Farming Framework and 3) developing and testing a ‘new normal’ for sustainable dairy production in Ireland.
Climate KIC is Europe’s leading, independent climate innovation agency and community. We are here to help create climate-resilient societies and fight the climate breakdown, building better futures for local communities, globally.
Working hand-in-hand with countries, regions, cities and businesses across the globe, we use innovation to mobilise systems change and bridge the gap between climate commitments and current reality. Together with our partners, we orchestrate solutions and facilitate learning to fuel faster and more ambitious climate action.
